Kati's Blog: Rainbows

Author:: Rácz Katalin Created:: September 29, 2013. 23:00:00

I started off with a heavy heart on Saturday morning. Two very kind irish girls, whom I started my Camino with, said goodbye. We were in tears. As I’ve learned days before, only patience helps in these times. So I got going a littlebit lonely, but with peacein my soul. Even before sunrise I could smell the coming rain. Then a rainbow appeard on the sky, I’ve never seen such strong and clear rainbow before! My soul was in joy and happiness, I forgot all my pains for the whole day! It was early afternoon when I reached Granon. There was also a miracle waiting for me! I knew from Gábor, that the lodging will be in a church, but to experience the meaning of it right there and then is simply indescribabel! The whole atmosphere, making our dinner together, going together to the bakery with cheerful laughter, washing the dishes together and all the talkings were unforgettable! And for the collective prayer at night I have simply no words…

The next morning I was refreshed and in a good mood. The weather was pleasant with a good chance of rain. I decided I am not going to get wet today! And I didn’t! The day started  windy with clouds on the sky, but not too cold. After a few kilometers I was walking in light rain, light enough so I did not have to wear my raincoat. In one minute it was raining, and the other minute the sun was shining. And so I saw the rainbow again! So vivid! Photos can not give back the scenery. I walked merry the whole day and I felt myself one with the beautiful nature God created. You can only feel that unity, when you really live in it day by day. Since it was Sunday I visited the curches in every village.  Even in the smallest places, the church is richly decorated. Once, near the hillside I saw some eagles and when I reached the next village I saw that there were nests all around the tower of the church. I don’t know wether they were eagle nests or not I am not an expert, but it was touching.

Maybe these last two days were what I „expected” from the Camino. Everything was so easy I felt our Good God within my reach. I could say these were the first days when not only the constant praying filled my hours, but somehow I managed to have a dialog with God.

I have rainbowy days behind me!
